BOULDER—Students, parents, and teachers are invited to enjoy hands-on science and Halloween fun at Super Science Saturday on October 24 at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). This free, annual family event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This year's theme is "Sound Science." Throughout the day, NCAR's "Science Wizards" will explore the principles of sound with live demonstrations and hands-on activities. The day also includes weather balloon launches, a Doppler on Wheels mobile radar, the interactive Little Shop of Physics workshop, a cryogenics magic show, face painting, a bungee trampoline, and the Wild Okapi Marimba Band. Children will have the opportunity to forecast the weather in front of a television camera as part of the KMGH 24/7 Weather Experience.

Super Science Saturday is designed to promote public science literacy and provide memorable science experiences for families.

Participants include the Wild Bear Center for Nature Discovery, University of Colorado Science Discovery, Colorado State University's Little Shop of Physics, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Windows to the Universe, Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, and others. The event is sponsored by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) Office of Education and Outreach, Friends of UCAR, and KMGH Channel 7.

Super Science Saturday takes place at NCAR's Mesa Lab, located at the west end of Table Mesa Drive in Boulder. The Mesa Lab's exhibits, art galleries, and cafeteria will be open.
