Amount of power to be generated by Cape Wind, the offshore wind farm approved for Nantucket Sound by the U.S. Department of the Interior on 28 April after close to a decade of controversy. A 107-kilometer (66-mile) buried cable system will transmit power from the project’s 130 turbines to the mainland power grid. Before construction begins, the Federal Aviation Administration must verify that the wind farm won’t interfere with aircraft communications.
