The following statement is from Antonio Busalacchi, president of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR). UCAR is a consortium of more than 120 universities, including Michigan State University, which manages the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) on behalf of the National Science Foundation.
On behalf of UCAR, today I express our profound sadness over the lives lost in a mass shooting on the campus of Michigan State University Monday night. We offer our deepest condolences to the families of those killed and injured, along with everyone in the MSU community.
Michigan State University has been a valued member of our consortium of universities since 2010. We have collaborated with the Department of Geography, Environment & Spatial Sciences and the Center for Global Change and Earth Observations. Today, we stand together in support of our colleagues in East Lansing, as we mourn the loss of three young people in another senseless act of violence.
