The following statement is from Antonio Busalacchi, president of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR). UCAR is a consortium of more than 130 universities, including Tuskegee University, which manages the U.S. National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR) on behalf of the NSF.
On behalf of UCAR, today I express our grief over the loss of life in the mass shooting over the weekend at Tuskegee University in Alabama. We offer our deepest condolences to the families of those killed and injured in this senseless act of violence.
We also offer our support to the faculty and students of Tuskegee University. We are proud to call the university one of our newest member institutions, having just welcomed them to our consortium last month. We stand together with our colleagues and the entire Tuskegee community in the wake of this tragedy.
