September 13, 2012 | Spark: UCAR Science Education produced NCAR's second Ignite event on Wednesday, September 12. Nine presenters covered a diverse range of topics while adhering to the Ignite format of 20 slides, 15 seconds each (hence the "hurry up" motto).

Like a meal assembled from a variety of small tapas plates, the presentations provided food for thought, introducing colleagues, programs, and ideas from across the organization and one guest from across town. The Ignite II lineup included

• Matt Benjamin, Fiske Planetarium (CU), on Fiske's digital theater upgrade and opportunities for science education
  
  
• Becca Hatheway, Spark: UCAR Science Education, on the Mesa Lab's forthcoming Weather Gallery Exhibit
  
  
• Rachel Hauser, NCAR Research Relations, on geoengineering
  
  
• Lisa Packard, Event Services, on heart, health, and good foods to eat
  
  
• Scott Rayder, UCAR President's Office, on his role in securing new resources for the organization
  
  
• Alison Rockwell and Kate Young, Earth Observing Lab, on Internet2 in EOL education
  
  
• Ben Sanderson, NESL/Climate and Global Dynamics, on results from model experiments with high CO₂ scenarios
  
  
• Vidal Salazar, Earth Observing Lab, on his career path and current role in field campaigns

The conversations continued at a reception where finger foods were available to satisfy physical hunger as well. Organizer Teri Eastburn and colleagues plan to post video from the event as soon as it's available. In the meantime, the presentations from Ignite I are available for viewing on the Spark website.
