NCAR scientists, UCAR program honored by AGU and AMS
Four scientists at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) are being honored with awards by two prominent organizations in Earth system science: the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and the American Meteorological Society (AMS). The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program is also receiving the Excellence in Earth and Space Science Education award from AGU.

NCAR climate scientist Clara Deser elected to the National Academy of Sciences
The National Academy of Sciences announced the election of 120 new members, including distinguished climate scientist Clara Deser of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Deser is a senior scientist in the Climate and Global Dynamics Laboratory (CGD) in NCAR.

Busalacchi named to second term as UCAR president
Antonio J. Busalacchi, an expert in Earth’s climate system and experienced scientific administrator, has been named to a second five-year term as president of UCAR.

UCAR announces new director of government relations and external engagement
Pamitha Weerasinghe is joining UCAR from the Union of Concerned Scientists, where he served as the senior manager of government affairs. He previously worked for seven years on the staff of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.
