Scientists and educators at NCAR and UCAR have won prestigious honors from one of the nation's leading science organizations: the American Meteorological Society. The awards will be presented during the January 2021 annual meeting of the society.

The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) joins its sister institutions and colleagues across the geosciences in mourning the loss of Michael Freilich, a luminary whose passion for understanding the interwoven aspects of the Earth system drove the science forward. 

Gilbert, who currently serves as director for the Heliophysics Science Division at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, will join NCAR October 5.

UCAR is committed to improving our support for Black scientists and others who are from communities that are underrepresented in the geosciences.

The Front Range GigaPoP, which is operated and managed by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR), and NevadaNet join CENIC, Link Oregon, and Pacific Northwest Gigapop (PNWGP) in offering their ultra-broadband research and education telecommunications networks and services to support the COVID-19 Western States Pact.
