The Board of Trustees of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) has elected five new trustees to its ranks. UCAR, which manages the U.S. National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR) on behalf of the National Science Foundation, also serves the Earth system science community through its UCAR Community Programs (UCP).
The new trustees are Tamara Dickinson, Science Matters Consulting, LLC; Jennifer Griswold, University of Hawaii; Alex Guenther, University of California, Irvine; Nan Joesten, Rapid Evolution, LLC; and Peter Neilley, The Weather Company.
In addition, current trustees Ana Barros, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; Heidi Cullen, Schmidt Sciences; and Yvette Richardson, Pennsylvania State University, were elected for a second term.
UCAR also welcomed five new member institutions to its consortium of colleges and universities. The new members are McMaster University; Portland State University; Tuskegee University; University of California, Riverside; and University of California, Santa Barbara.
“Our list of close colleagues continues to grow, and those relationships allow us to focus and enhance the depth and breadth of our partnerships,” said UCAR President Antonio Busalacchi. “I am thrilled at the opportunity to collaborate with these new organizations and become even more effective as we work toward our mission to support the Earth system science community.”
UCAR is a nonprofit consortium of 131 North American colleges and universities focused on research and training in Earth system science.
