Ying-Hwa "Bill" Kuo, who has directed the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) portfolio of community programs since 2015, announced he will step down in March 2025.

NSF NCAR has named Lewis Groswald its new strategic partnerships lead. Groswald comes to NSF NCAR from Lockheed Martin, where he led government relations in weather and Earth science for the company’s commercial civil space portfolio in Washington, D.C.

Young has served within the UCAR Finance team for more than 26 years, and has spent more than six years as the organization’s Deputy Chief Financial Officer.

Christopher Castro named director of Research Applications Laboratory
NSF NCAR has named Christopher L. Castro the new director of its Research Applications Laboratory (RAL). Castro is currently professor and interim head of the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona, as well as director of the Center for Applied Hydroclimate Sciences within the Arizona Institute for Resilience.
