Come learn about extreme weather events at this year’s Super Science Saturday on Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Mesa Lab in south Boulder.

This year’s event highlights the major weather events people experience throughout the world and will include engaging presentations on air pressure, wind turbines, and flight.

"This year we wanted to highlight the strength and power of extreme weather events," said Eileen Carpenter of the UCAR Center for Science Education. "But we also have our traditionally popular activities for children and entire families to enjoy as well."

Activities include:

  • A Wizards’ Show about how volcanic eruptions can create extreme weather
  • Colorado State University's Little Shop of Physics
  • National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) activities focusing on wind
  • LocoMotion Show with Peter Davison mixing circus skills with Newtonian physics
  • Weather balloon launches
  • Visualization lab demos
  • Fossil casting
  • Hurricane and tsunami education
  • Solar activities
  • Pingpong ball launch
  • Face painting
  • And much more!

The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) provides education and research services and manages NCAR under sponsorship by the National Science Foundation.
