Ettinger brings more than 28 years of experience to the position from across federally funded research organizations, national laboratories, higher education, and public sector institutions.

UCAR’s request for a preliminary injunction to stop the federal government from moving forward with plans to transfer stewardship of the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center (NWSC) from UCAR to another operator has been granted.

This week Sarah Gibson of the U.S. National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR) was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Gibson is a senior scientist at NSF NCAR, where she studies solar magnetism.

UCAR filed a motion seeking a preliminary injunction to halt the action being taken by federal agencies to divest UCAR and NCAR of their stewardship, maintenance, or operations responsibilities over the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center (NWSC).

Barron will succeed current UCAR President Antonio Busalacchi, who will transition to president emeritus and special advisor to the interim president before retiring on June 4.
