This week Sarah Gibson of the U.S. National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR) was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Gibson is a senior scientist at NSF NCAR, where she studies solar magnetism.

UCAR seeks preliminary injunction against federal administrative agencies
UCAR filed a motion seeking a preliminary injunction to halt the action being taken by federal agencies to divest UCAR and NCAR of their stewardship, maintenance, or operations responsibilities over the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center (NWSC).

Pieternel Levelt receives Snellius Medal
On March 13, Pieternel Levelt, an associate director of the U.S. National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR), received the 2026 Snellius Medal. The Snellius medal is a prestigious award that is only given once every ten years by the Dutch Society for the Promotion of Natural Sciences, Medicine, and Surgery.
